1. Colophon

Larry Bullockis a java web developer by day.  However, I originally went to GVSU to be a writer.  Of course, actually earning a living that way is astronomically hard, so I earned a teaching certificate (figuring on teaching high school English and government classes). Too bad there was a glut of teachers in Michigan at the time (and I didn’t want to leave the state). Finally, I fell into a hobby (computers), learned programming, and have been working at that ever since.

Missing writing…but having little time to dedicate to it, I started writing poetry (I’ve done a few different forms, from free verse to more structured styles). I prefer structured styles over totally free verse because I feel that the constraints really help unlock my creativity.  I settled on haiku for my current endeavors.

Adding a twist…to traditional haiku poetry, I was inspired from a family trip to use pictures to echo a haiku. It wasn’t too hard to find Creative Commons licensed pictures to utilize without having to worry about stealing someones efforts.  I do give everyone credit to their work by linking back to the original picture (just click on a picture). I also have my haikus licensed with a similar Creative Commons license.

An ongoing mission..to post a new haiku periodically (it used to be each and every day, but after 4 years of that, it was time to slow down and check out the roses so to speak). There is no guarantee that every haiku will be an amazing work of art, but hopefully you will find something of value.

Also working on…I have one other Tumblr site: Risus Thought of the Moment (a group site for my favorite pen and paper RPG: Risus).  You are also welcome to check out the various Tumblr-verse stuff I have liked.
